Rio Olympics: Another Disappointment for Team Uganda

Uganda’s performance at the ongoing Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro continued to be awful after another representative suffered an early exit.

Swimmer Joshua Tibatemwa Ekibirukubinza is the latest Ugandan to fail to progress to the next level after earlier disappointments from boxer Kennedy Katende and swimmer Jamila Lunkuse.

Ekibirikubinza failed to progress to the semifinal stage after finishing sixth in heat four on Thursday. The 19 year old swimmer clocked 25.98 in a race won by Tanzania’s Hilal Hilal Hemed who posted 23.70 seconds in the 50metre freestyle category.

However, pills no one from heat four qualified for the semi finals including Hemed who time was below the 16th overall position.

Ukrainian swimmer Andrii Govonov came out overall best across all the 11 heats finishing within 21.49 seconds. Defending champion Manaudo Florent from France also qualified to the semifinals clocking 21. 68.
