Residents Attack Suspected Murderers, Torch their Property

Residents of Karangura and Mugusu in Kabarole district on Sunday torched houses and destroyed property belonging to two siblings who are accused of killing a 13 year old boy.

Kyabona and Eriya, cure buy sons of the late Ntagairu of Katurru Village Nyabuswa Parish, Mugusu sub County on August 28,2015 allegedly killed Akora Birungi Peter, a pupil at Kazingo S.D.A primary school and son to David Mwezi, a resident of the same village.

Over 2000 angry residents went on rampage and stormed the homes of Kyabona and Eriya, setting their houses a blaze and destroying their banana plantations.

The mob also killed farm animals and poultry belonging to the suspects.

Reports say that Kyabona and his brothers had been embroiled in several conflicts with Mwezi, father of the deceased.

Kyabona and Eriya were arrested and detained at Fort Portal police station but later released on Friday, an act that angered residents.

The mob also set a blaze three houses belonging to the relatives of the suspects who they believe to have taken part in the murder.

By the time of the incident, all the suspects and their relatives had fled the area out of fear of being lynched.


By press time the police had not reached the scene.

Hon.Steven Kagwera, the area MP who urged the residents to be calm also condemned the manner in which the police was handling the particular case file.
