The Ugandan High Commissioner in South Africa has postponed the repatriation of Ugandans living in the country from 25th June to 2nd July 2020.

In a letter dated 23 July of 2020, Ambassador Kintu Nyago, the Acting Commissioner in South Africa said the postponement followed negotiations between both Uganda and South Africa

“Based on the need to harmonize variables in this equation, the South African Government has cleared repatriation exercise to be effected on July 2nd 2020.”

The commissioner assured those who had already paid for their tickets to keep calm because they are still valid.

On Tuesday, the first group of Ugandans in the diaspora arrived at Entebbe International Airport from Sudan

In the past few months, these repatriations have not been possible due to closure of Entebbe Airport and all border points as a preventive measure against COVID 19 pandemic
