Ministry of Health officials have confirmed the commencement of the distribution of face masks to final year students who have resumed school today, October 15, 2020.
The government of Uganda through the Health Ministry procured face masks worth Shs 5.76 billion following President Museveni’s order for schools to re-open for finalists following months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking about the development, the Ministry of Health spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona said that the masks are ready and will be distributed to students both in private and public schools.
“Masks for P7, S4, and S6 candidates are being picked from the Ministry of Health and distributed to the respective schools by the District Education Officers (DEOs),” Ainebyoona said.
Aianebyoona added that every student will be availed with two pieces of masks.
“Each pupil/student both in public and private schools is expected to receive two pieces of the government of Uganda masks,” he added.
