The Member of Parliament Isingiro South in Isingiro district Hon. Alex Byarugaba Bakunda has advised LC1 chairpersons to cooperate with local defense forces and crime preventers to register all residents and conduct regular night patrols to arrest suspected criminals who commit crimes and flee.
“These criminals need a stringent vigilance; only through this process they will be minimized,” Bakunda said.
Byarugaba made the remarks while addressing Ruhiira town council local council leaders, local defense forces and crime preventers during security meeting at Ruhiira town council hall in Isingiro south Isingiro district today.
“You LC leaders need to coordinate with the fellow leaders and all security agents in order carry out night patrols and do away with these killers” Bakunda added
He further urged cautioned local communities to get united and insist on working as a team with their local leaders to ensure all local bars don’t open in working hours so as to control criminals taking advantage to plan their crimes.
“Even when you are going to carry out a patrol don’t inform anyone such that criminals can be easily arrested”, Bakunda warned.
The MP adds among others, that all witch doctors must be investigated and separated from traditional healers and be monitored regularly on how they perform their duties to prevent murder and sacrifice cases that have become a security threat in the area.
The district councilor Nyakitunda sub county who is care taker for Ruhiira town council Mr Elly Twinomujuni asked local council chairpersons to stop issuing recommendation letters to suspected criminals and people who don’t originate from their cells.
“Here you are helping the criminals to increase an area, register people and recommend people who you know their backgrounds”, Elly said.
