Deputy speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanya has revealed that efforts are underway to regionalize operations of the Uganda Cancer Institute.
Oulanyah was this morning flagging off participants for the Nkesiga family cancer awareness walk at Nakasero primary school playgrounds.
Oulanya, who represents Omoro County in parliament said deliberations have already reached parliament and solutions are being postulated.
“The cancer institute is there. They are now trying to regionalize it to make treatment and access to treatment easier for people suffering from this disease”, he says.
Oulanya on the other hand commended Rev. Dr. Nkesiga for standing against a disease he referred to as a monster.
He implored citizens through such fellowships to pool resources and network on how best they can combat this disease once and for all.
Proceeds from this event held under the theme “making walking a lifestyle against cancer” will go towards supporting children affected by this very disease.
The walk is one of many activities organized under the Nkesiga Cancer Foundation, which was created by Rev Diana Nkesiga in memory of her late husband.
