Police has Monday released three of the four people accused of murdering AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who were earlier this month brutally rearrested at the Kampala High Court’s International Crimes Division, shortly after being granted bail.
The released are Yusuf Nyanzi, Jibril Kalyango, and Yusuf Mugerwa.
The release followed an order by High Court judge Henrietta Wolayo to security agencies to produce the detained persons in court not later than today.
The three appeared in court today with their lawyers Turyamusiima Geoffrey and Anthony Wameli, who informed court that their clients had been released on Police Bond
“My lord this morning I received a call from one Elly Womanya asking me to pick my clients and 30 minutes back they were released on Police bond and they are here,” Turyamusiima told court.
The suspects, he said, were granted bond on the charge of belonging to terrorism group
State Attorney Musota Brian asked the judge to close the case file of this matter since it has been overtaken by events.
The judge thus closed the file and each side was ordered to cater for its own costs
The three were received by their relatives in jubilation before heading to their various places of residence
Unlike the previous time, there was no security deployment at court
