RDC Warns as More Kisoro Youths Join M23

Hajji Shafiq Sekandi, treatment the Kisoro Resident District Commissioner has cautioned youths in his district against engaging in subversive activities in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

Hajji Sekandi revealed Tuesday that his office had received intelligence that dozens of youths were continually joining the Congolese rebel group M23.

According to the RDC, prescription these youths call themselves the political cadres of M23.

He warned that this will not be allowed to continue in his district, cure noting that there cannot be such thing a political cadre of a rebel group.

Hajji Sekandi sounded the warning while addressing the Kisoro district extraordinary council sitting that was called to deliberate on the security situation in the district.

The RDC however, said on a positive note, that the recently volatile security situation has been contained and that in the last two months they have managed to recover three guns and arrested 13 people who are being investigated by police.

He also revealed that the recovered guns were found not to be Ugandan and must have been smuggled in from DRC.

Meanwhile, Sekandi said at least 30 illegal immigrants are being arrested every week from the DRC and Rwanda, many of who come in looking for employment opportunities.
