Uganda’s main Opposition figure Col Dr. Kizza Besigye will not be attending the burial of his departed Zimbabwean counterpart, Morgan Tsvangirai.
ChimpReports has learned that Dr. Besigye, who is currently in the United States for undisclosed engagements, has not made any arrangement for the burial set for tomorrow Tuesday in Buhera, Manicaland Province in Eastern Zimbabwe.
An official in FDC who asked not to be named told us the four time presidential candidate is still committed in the US and is not expected to break for the burial.
“He is not going to be in position to attend the burial of his departed fellow democratic warrior tomorrow,” he said.
It also appears that the country’s biggest opposition party, Forum for Democratic Change is not sending a representative to Zimbabwe.
When contacted on phone, the party Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi said he is not aware of any arrangements.
“We would love to be there tomorrow but unfortunately for now there is nothing much to say,” Mafabi said.
In neighboring Kenya, the main opposition leader, Raila Odinga departed from capital Nairobi at around midday East African Time and arrived in Harare few minutes to 6pm.
Odinga was accompanied by his sister Beryl Achieng and Kisumu Governor, Anyang’ Nyong’o. The trio was welcomed in Harare by the Zimbabwe’s Movement for Democratic Change acting president Nelson Chamisa.
