Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo has adhered to President Museveni’s advice to maintain her natural hair.
While meeting Abenakyo at State House Entebbe on December 19, Museveni observed: “Abenakyo is indeed a tall, beautiful Musoga girl. My only concern is that she was wearing Indian hair. I have encouraged her to keep her natural, African hair. We must show African beauty in its natural form.”
Chimplyf understands that Abenakyo, who was also recently-crowned Miss World Africa, has removed the wig and committed to keeping her natural hair.
Speaking after hosting the beauty queen for dinner at the president’s country home in Rwakitura on December 29, Museveni observed: “When we met in Entebbe, I advised Abenakyo to keep her hair natural. I am glad she heeded the advice and re-asserted her African identity.”
Museveni said, “God beautifully created Africans, there is no need to add or subtract anything.”
The president’s remarks divided public opinion with feminists arguing that Abenakyo’s choice of hairstyle should be respected.
Others defended Museveni’s position, saying natural hair is gorgeous.
Museveni re-echoed GovGovernment’s commitment to Support ‘the Miss Uganda Foundation’ and all Abenakyo’s activities.
