Miss Uganda Quinn Abenakyo gave out the secret that enabled her to scoop the Miss World Africa crown at the recently concluded Miss World contest in Sanya City Arena, China.
During a press conference earlier yesterday at Sheraton Hotel, the beauty queen who just returned on Wednesday intimated to journalists that her victory had less to do with her power.
“We were 118 contestants from all over the world! I can’t say I was the best because everyone brought her ‘A’ game, “the soft spoken Abenakyo told journalists.
She added, “I left my journey to God and the judges from the beginning and it was God’s grace that I got this crown. I am glad I won this for my country.”
Abenakyo managed to beat 114 beauty queens hence emerging 3rd runner up in the fourth position overall and being crowned Miss World Africa.
“I want to say thank you all for the support, the love is overwhelming. I used to u watch such things on TV, I didn’t know it would happen to me at 22years, it’s too much,” she appreciated Uganda.
Abenakyo urged Ugandans to show the same support to other Ugandans in other fields like sports, entertainment because great things happen for the country when citizens get together.
She also requested more support towards her campaign to save girls from early pregnancies. Some of the advice she left for the girls was to remain in school.
“Learn to believe in yourself, it starts with you. Make sure you get the right role models, do what you are supposed to do and believe in God because nothing happens without him, “she concluded.
CEO Miss Uganda, Brenda Nanyonjo also thanked Ugandans, media and government for the support towards them.
