As Uganda joins the rest of the world to celebrate annual World Teachers’ day, Uganda National Teacher’s Union (UNATU) a body bringing together all teachers in the country has announced a full week of activities lined up to mark the day.
This campaign dubbed ‘Appreciate my Teacher Week’ will run from Monday 5th October to Friday 9th October 2020.
According to Filbert Baguma the General Secretary for UNATU, on Wednesday all teachers together with other well-wishers will put on their corporate wear (Orange in colour) as part of the celebrations.
The union among others is calling on the public to plant a tree in honour of a teacher.
Baguma says teachers too will plant trees in schools and education institutions to mark the day.
“Let us work together to give teachers the recognition that they deserve.”
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on The Tuesday is expected to preside over the scientific Teachers’day celebrations at State House Entebbe.
