Abdulaziz M.A. Mansur has been installed as the new Managing Director for Tropical Bank Limited, replacing Sameh M. Krekshi, who was fired in October 2018 on orders of Bank of Uganda.
After Krekshi’s departure, Dennis M. Kakeeto, who was the Executive Director of the bank became the Acting Managing Director, a position he has held for almost a year until recently when the Bank appointed Mansur to take up the Position while Mr Kakeeto resumed his earlier position as executive director
Mr. Abdulaziz M.A. Mansur is a seasoned Accountant, Banker and Scholar, with more than 25 years of transformational experience in Banking and Finance, Audit and Risk, Strategic Planning and Leadership, as well as Governance.
He is an astute negotiator with a high degree of communication and lateral thinking skills, with particular focus on performance, policy and procedure improvements. He is result oriented.
Between 2010 to date, Mr. Mansur has served on several Boards and Committees including; Central Bank of Libya as Committee Member; LFB Strategy, Emergency and Compensation Committees as Member; Libyan Qatari Bank Steering Committee as Committee Member; Turkish Arab Bank as Board Member; and as Chairman Libyan Company for Financing and Leasing.
Prior to joining Tropical Bank, Mr. Mansur was the founding and is the pre-current General Manager (CEO) of Nuran Bank – formerly Libyan Qatari Bank, where he established and launched the bank from day one. And whereof he provided transformational leadership and management to business and team, to enforce best practices in Risk, Legal, Corporate Governance and Service Excellence in achieving all set performance targets, and in the process, achieved as at 31st December 2018, profit return on paid up capital of 27%.
Mr. Mansur is also scholarly a giant, having obtained both professional and academic’s highest qualifications in; Higher Diploma in Management and Finance, Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Masters Degree in Finance and Accounting and currently a PhD Student.
He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and speaks 3 international languages
Commenting on his new position, Mr Mansur said as the new MD, he will focus on fulfilling the primary role that the bank was initially formed for which is uplifting businesses by providing affordable financing
“When the Bank was established in 1973 as a joint venture between the government of Uganda and Libyan Foreign Bank, its main objective was to support trade and development in Uganda and provided support in foreign trade with the outside world. This is still our objective and I have come here as the new Managing Director of Tropical bank to re-enforce this vision. We strongly want our customers and their businesses to flourish and be successful. If our customers fail, so does the bank,” he noted
