Kyadondo East MP, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine has hailed fallen ex-Prime Minister Prof. Apolo Robin Nsibambi as incorruptible. He made these remarks while speaking at a special parliamentary sitting to honor the accomplished academician.
Speaking on Friday, Bobi Wine said that despite serving in a heavily and evidently corrupt government, Nsibambi struck a difference. He says the ex-Premier chose to execute his designated duties with diligence and honesty.
“Even though he served under a regime that is marred by corruption, Prof Nsibambi refused to be corrupted. His name was never heard in any corruption scandal,” he says.
Citing his decision to retire from elective politics, Bobi Wine said this was enough to show that he was not power hungry.
“As you remember he told the president not to appoint him in 2011 because he believed that leaders must serve and then retire respectfully,” he adds further.
Aiming a jibe at his colleagues, Bobi said that although onetime Nsibambi chastised the President’s cronies for not telling him the truth, many were present.
“You well remember he castigated the people around the president. And many of these members are present here today.”
Bobi says Nsibambi represented decency, service and Godliness.
Hon. Moses Kasibante the Rubaga North MP urged President Yoweri Museveni to learn from Prof. Apolo Nsibambi’s decision to quit politics.
The motion to eulogize the fallen ex-premier was moved by Rt.Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda, the current Prime Minister and supported by the Leader of Opposition who was represented by Hon. Betty Muzanira.
Muzanira is the Rukungiri Woman district representative.
