Ugandan have been urged to change their mindset and move away from subsistence agricultural methods to commercial through industrialization.
Ham Mugenyi, the Chairperson Board Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) says countries that have developed embraced the idea of industrialization which promotes value addition for locally produced goods.
Mugenyi was speaking as chief guest at the launch of Rwengaju Model Parish Presidential project at Kyembogo DATIC, Busoro sub county, Kabarole district where he represented Gen. Salim Saleh Akandwanaho the National Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) program on Thursday.
He said, “Since Rwengaju is the first Model parish to be established by president Yoweri Museveni in the country, as UDC we pledge total support and this would be used as a learning center/parish for all districts”.
The residents of Rwengaju received 500 piglets, 150 heifers and will soon receive 15000 chicks and 1500 exotic goats under NAADS and Shs 200m for SACCOs.
Richard Rwabuhinga, the Kabarole District Chairperson said that 2008 when the president visited late Kabagambe’s home, he identified Rwengaju and announced to develop it into a model parish with the intention of attracting other districts to learn and share experience about modern farming and also transforming the lives of the people”.
“I thank president Museveni for transforming this area through modern agriculture. I urge the beneficiaries to look after the inputs and multiply them to generate income to educate your children and improve your household status,” Rwabuhinga said.
