Presidential Advisor’s Bail Hearing Flops

Hearing of the bail application by Yekoyada Nuwagaba, a Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Matters, who is on remand for unlawful possession of wildlife species; did not take place as scheduled today, at the Buganda Road Court.

Nuwagaba, who has been on remand since last week, was not brought in court today.

Last Friday he was remanded to Luzira after he failed to produce two substantial sureties for his bail.

Chief magistrate James Mawanda Eremye advised him to produce a substantive surety, preferably one with whom they work at the Office of the President.

This was because one of his sureties was challenged by prosecution, for jumping police bond.

Today, the applicant’s lawyer Simon Peter Musangala had appeared in court with all sureties to apply for bail, only to be informed that the suspect has not been delivered in court.

The matter was been adjourned to tomorrow Wednesday.

According to reliable sources, Prisoners were not brought in court today on the orders of the same court to Prison authorities.

Nuwagaba was arrested with180 kilos of hippo teeths and a live tortoise.
