President Museveni who is also Commander in Chief of Armed forces will Tuesday address the Uganda Police Force council at Naguru headquarters on issues pertaining security.
According to Police, the President and council will discuss the new security strategies recently deployed in fighting crime among other issues.
The council however convened on Monday for its 25th time ahead of the President’s address which is running under the theme “Strengthening our achievements and finding solutions to policing challenges to guarantee public safety.”
Over 30 new members including the Deputy Inspector General of Police Major General Sabitti Muzeeyi and other newly appointed directors were also sworn into the council and have started deliberating on numerous issues.
Amongst the deliberations, council members are discussing existing policing challenges towards fighting crime as well as drawing solutions to the challenges.
They are also reviewing various policies of the force such as gender policies, ICT, Traffic management, welfare policy, Police reserve, contracts and accommodation.
Addressing the press on the sidelines of the meeting, AIGP Asan Kasigye revealed that they are also going to discuss how to resolve the problems challenging the Police SACCO group called Exodus.
He pointed out that the SACCO group operation demoralized many officers.
“This time round we’re to discuss in detail the problems facing our SACCO group which made members to lose faith,” Kasingye said.
He added that by at the end of the meeting, committees will also deliver their reports on various issues such as discipline, appointments, promotions and transfer.
Also top on the agenda is the Police road-map to the 2021 general elections in the country.
