The Uganda International Fashion Week is back for its 6th edition, founded in 2003, UIFW is an event that showcases the best of Uganda Fashion together with designers from all over the world.
The three day event will be happening from the 2nd to 3rd,ending with a grand finale on the 4th of August, 2019 at the Kampala Serena international conference center.
With tickets going for as low as Shs100,000 for ordinary, Shs200,000 VIP and Shs250,000 for the front row seats, word from the organizers is that the tickets are soon running out of stock as they are selling like hot cake.
This year’s theme “The Business behind fashion” is aimed at encouraging the adoption of Fashion as a career capable of eradicating unemployment in Africa.
The show will see top-notch fashion designers from Rwanda, Uganda’s Santa Anzo, Fatumah Asha, Abbas kaijuka,Pula Butagira and Stella Atal.Jan Malan Umizigei, the Chief producer and director of major international fashion weeks in New york among others will as well be embracing the event.
It is anticipted that UIFW will open with the fashion tourism in August 2 at a yet to be identified tourist destination outside Kampala, where the beauty and tourism potential of fashion will be showcased.
There will then be a business symposium on the 3rd at Serena Hotel where Jan Malan Umizigei will be discussing about technology and globalization Verses African fashion and a key note address from the South African Department of Arts and culture.
Santa Anzo the brains behind the event who also doubles as the CEO Arapapa, will be wrapping up the day on her ‘business behind fashion’ address.
