Pool: Cheers, Roniz Extend Lead in Division One

Promotion race in the national pool league one is getting tighter by the day after the top pack all registered wins despite walkovers spoiling the party in several fixtures of game day 20.

Leaders Cheers pool club were among the beneficiaries of the freebies after Global Com failed to turn up. That means Cheers maintain the three point gap from second placed Roniz club.

The Jinja side has been on a blistering form with five consecutive victories and were once again successful on the road beating Ibanda Warriors 16-9 away. The Victory pushed Roniz to 48 points.

The two clubs traded the eighth and ninth place even though the Mbale club has a game at hand.

Lowly ranked Afro also caused an upset to Maga B’s promotion hopes after emerging slim 13-12 winners. Maga B stalled on 36 points meaning the gap with the top four widened to six points.

Lilians and Soroti both awarded three free points following Bunamwaya and Spot On’s absence.

The top three clubs from the sixteen team league will earn promotion to next year’s Pool Association of Uganda’s national senior league.
