Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Polokwane City is leading the race to sign Gor Mahia and Uganda Cranes forward Juma Balinya.
Sources close to the player’s camp told ChimpReports that both the club (Polokwane City) and the player’s representative/agent are in negotiations to see the highly anticipated transfer go through.
“Yeah the club (Polokwane City) is negotiating with the player’s agent but of course Gor Mahia will have to approve the move if anything is to happen,” said an inside source that preferred anonymity.
Juma Balinya joined the K’Ogalos earlier this year on a two-year contract but reports suggest that he is highly likely to cross boarders with only four months into his contract.
The former Police FC talisman joined the Kenyan Premier League giants from Tanzanian side, Yanga Africans Sports Club after ditching the club in December 2019 due to non-payment.
He was crowned the Ugandan Premier League top scorer in the 2018/2019 season, netting 17 goals while featuring for the Cops under coach Abdallah Mubiru.
The former Lweza FC player has also been strongly linked with Ethiopian Giants St George.
On the current PSL table standings, Polokwane City sits 14th in the relegation zone, having 23 points from 24 games with only six games left to play.
If the deal materializes, Balinya will become the second Ugandan to play for Polokwane City after midfielder Boban Zirintusa.
Currently, only two Ugandan players are featuring in South African top tier; Dennis Onyango Masinde (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Moses Waiswa (SuperSport United) while Martin Kiiza features for second division side Royal Eagles.
