Politics Shouldn’t Divide Us, Focus on Development – Tumukunde tells Rukungiri MPs

The Minister of Security and former ISO boss Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has asked political leaders from Rukungiri district to avoid letting their political differences divide them. He rather urged them to work together to develop the district through public service.

Tumukunde who hails from Rukungiri made the remarks on Monday during a funeral service of Mbabazi Francis Rwekisigazi the former District Commercial Officer who died after a motor accident last week. Several political leaders from both the ruling NRM party and FDC attended the funeral at St. Andrews church in Bukoto.

They included the Rukungiri Municipality MP Roland Kaginda, viagra dosage Winfred Matsiko (Woman MP) and Fred Turyamuhweza (Rujumbura).

“In such trying moments, information pills I am glad that we have put our political differences and joined in solidarity to support the family of Mbabazi. No need to create divisions among our people despite of politics. This special affiliation and unity of the Barokore in Buyanja (Rukungiri) started many years ago.”

The soldier turned politician said that it is this same solidarity among opinion leaders in Rukungiri that had paved way for him to get into politics. He further remarked that Rukungiri district made a great contribution the 1986 revolution to liberate Uganda from the Idi Amin rule since majority of senior leaders hailed from the South western district.

Referring to FDC leaders in the district, he said; “Those that are not part of NRM, it is my hope that you’ll play a role in a different chapter. Let us move and develop our area.”

He revealed that district leaders have all agreed to set up a state of the art health facility.

“I have moved through Rukungiri and noticed that individuals have established very good houses but how about we sacrifice a window so we can start a hospital for the community?” asked Tumukunde.


On his part, FDC’s Hon. Roland Mugume Kaginda thanked Tumukunde for playing a mentor role in his political career. He pledged to continue working closely with NRM leaders as long as it goes towards developing the district.

Both factions made a concerted effort to pool resources to educate the six orphaned children of the late Mbabazi until they complete their university. The deceased was praised for uniting all people including politicians.
