Political Aspirants Face Arrest for Covering Road Signs

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) is set to carry out enforcement operations to apprehended politicians and members of the public that are defacing road signage with electoral campaign materials as they campaign for the 2021 general elections.

UNRA says it has been concerned about the increased vandalism and abuse of road signage across the country using electoral campaign materials such as posts pinned on road traffic signs which is against the UNRA Regulations.

“This is punished upon conviction by a fine or imprisonment. We therefore notify all persons involved in this conduct to remove their campaign posters and desist from this illegal act with immediate effect. After this notice, we will carry out an operation and apprehended the culprits” a statement from UNRA stated.

UNRA further urged members of the public to report anyone found or caught Defacing road signage using electoral campaign posters to the nearest police station or report to UNRA through its various platforms.
