Police have spoken out on why detectives raided a printery in downtown Kampala on Friday, visit web http://darkriver.net/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-press-this.php saying they acted on intelligence that opposition party FDC were trying to print materials that would have disrupted public order.
“At around 01:00pm (Friday) our officers at Central Police Station Kampala received information that there were materials that were being printed at one of the printing houses along Nasser Road in Kampala that were intended to be used to disrupt campaigns and the Presidential debate today at Serena Conference Center, this web http://coffinpump.com/wp-content/plugins/custompress/core/core.php ” said Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango.
“Officers on receiving this information went to MPK printery and cross checked the materials and found that the materials were genuine FDC Manifesto,” he added.
“Our officers immediately withdrew and left the place without confiscating the manifestos as it is being alleged.”
FDC deputy Electoral Commission chairman, Michael Kabaziguruka had earlier said the manifesto booklets were confiscated by police.
But Onyango said police “left the printing process of the manifesto to continue.”
