Police Officers Detained for Shooting Two Fishermen

Apac police has detained three of their own, medical for allegedly killing two fishermen at Kiga landing site in Akokoro Sub County.

Mr. Chemutai Kalifani, dosage the Acting District Police Commander in Apac said the three were arrested on Friday.

“We have launched an investigation into the matter and the culprits will be brought to book,” Mr. Kalifani told reporters at his office on Tuesday.

Kalifani identified the two dead fishermen as Jimmy Obote of Okwir cell in Chawente Sub County, and Opo Euzenio of Owiny cell in Nambieso Sub County in Apac district.

The RDC of Apac, Mr John Robert Omuut, said the incident was unfortunate and he asked the residents to be calm and let the police carry out their investigation.

On Friday, October 16, 2015, Euzenio was shot and killed instantly, while Obote passed away on Monday at Apac general hospital.

A source from Apac central police identified the suspects as Patrick Chagara, an officer in charge of Kayago, in Amolatar district, Corporal Luwum and Fred Ojota, all attached to Apac central police station.
