Rukiga – Police in Rukiga district has in detention a 30-years-old man, who was intercepted with an allegedly stolen car.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional Police Spokesman confirmed the arrest of the man, who he identified as Jack Gumisiriza of Mwanjari cell, Katungu parish, Kamwezi sub-county in Rukiga district.
Gumisiriza was caught on Saturday afternoon while driving the allegedly stolen car registration number UAN 926B of Ipsum make and silver white in colour.
He was arrested at Kyazanga traffic police check point, and the vehicle is said to have been stolen from Bukinda trading centre along Kabale-Mbarara highway by unknown thugs.
“It’s alleged that on the 21st February 2018 thugs went to Onesmus’s Mugarura parking yard in Bukinda and stole his vehicle and took it to unknown destination. He reported a case at Bukinda and police embarked on tracking the said vehicle that we impounded at Kyazanga traffic check point,” Maate said.
Speaking to this website, Maate said that investigations into the cases had commenced under police file at Rukiga police station, and when enough information is gathered, the suspect would be arraigned in court and charged accordingly.
