Police Identify Victims of Nansana Shooting

Police have kicked off a manhunt for a group of six armed robbers who raided a shop in Nansana Town this afternoon and shot a number of people, killing two on spot.

Kampala metropolitan police on Tuesday afternoon named the victims of the shooting, which took place at Cheap Hardware.

According to Kampala metropolitan police spokesman SP Patrick Onyango, the dead are Jimmy Athuro who has been the assistant manager of the hardware and another who was identified as Frank Aruho.

Two other men were badly injured in the shooting and were rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital.

Onyango said that the attack was conducted by six masked robbers who were riding on unspecified motorcycles.

Three of them, he said, were armed with AK47 riffles.

He added that they attacked the hardware at the time when the cashiers were preparing to take unspecified amount of money to the bank.

“Our investigators are on ground and we’re pursuing the robbers,” he said
