Police Hunt for Wife-Beating Kabale Municipality Surveyor

Police in Kabale are looking for Ivan Ariho, a Kabale Municipality lands surveyor, who is accused of battering his 25 years old wife.

Ariho is said to have beaten Shelipher Ahimbisibwe, breaking three of her front teeth.

The suspect, police says, committed the crime on 12th December 2018 at around 4:30am at their home in Kigongi B cell in the Central Division of Kabale Municipality.

Agnes Natukunda, a lawyer with Mutungi and Company Advocates who also lives in that neighborhood, says Ariho harmed his wife after he returned home from partying at Mist bar and longue and found the water tap running.

She says a war of words ensued which culminated in the assault.

The lawyer says she personally intervened after hearing the quarrel and rushed Ahimbisibwe to Ballina Medical Centre, before reporting the matter at Kabale Central Police Station.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson a man hunt was launched and that once apprehended, Ariho will be charged with causing grievous harm.

He advised residents to make use the available offices of Family and Child Protection Unit and probation offices to resolve family conflicts.
