Police Foils Gen. Tumukunde’s “Kisoboka” Activities in Nansana, 15 Arrested

Police in Nansana is holding 15 people, all members and supporters of the “Kisoboka” pressure group that belongs to presidential hopeful Rtd. Lt. Gen Henry Tumukunde.

According to Kampala Metropolitan police, the people under custody were arrested on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at about 5 pm in an operation.

“Information was received that there was a group of people who were having a political meeting at the home of a one Frank Kigozi Ssalongo which is located in Nansana west -1B zone, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district,” reads part of the KMP statement on the operation.

Working on instructions from the DPC, a team of police officers stormed the residence and arrested 15 people and detained them at Nansana Police Station.

Police has said that all the suspects were charged with doing a negligent act likely to spread the infectious disease of Covid-19 vide ref: 92/13/08/2020 of Nansana Police Station.

“Their statements were recorded. They are all being detained pending court,” the statement further indicates.

Preliminary findings indicate that this pressure group’s meeting which was held at the home of Ssalongo Kigozi in Nansana west 1 B, was chaired by Birungi Robert who is the new chairperson elect for Wakiso district.

All the suspects arrested are residents of Wakiso district and are of different professions.


On Wednesday, while launching his presidential bid, Gen. Tumukunde also unveiled a new pressure group named a Renewed Uganda, “Kisoboka” literally meaning “It’s Possible” which he will use to converse for support.
