With a few days left for Makerere University Business School (MUBS) to go to polls, police has deployed heavily at the institution to curb any form of violence that may break out.
This comes after signs of violence showed at the guild presidential debate that took place at the institution yesterday evening.
Supporters of various candidates engaged each other with many holding sticks and stones which attracted police to prevail in order to curb the threatening political crisis that could erupt.
Four candidates eyeing the guild presidency appeared in a hotly contested debate and they include: Uganda youth Democrats (UYD)/ people power candidate Shenmark Mwesiga, Independent Romulus Tusingwire and NRM’s Aine Douglas Ssabiti who people power candidate accused of being backed by the police.
Various UYD members including Makerere University Guild President Julius Kateregga turned up to campaign for their fellow.
Various institutions of higher learning in Uganda that have already held elections have had people power candidates claim victory.
