Police Boss Baguma Released on Bail

Former Kampala Central Police Station Aaron Baguma has been released on bail from Kigo Prison by the Kampala High Court.

Kampala High Court Judge Justice Wilson Musalu Musene this morning granted the police boss who is facing murder charges, discount a Shs. 5 million cash bail. Each of his three sureties was also put on a Shs. 50 million noncash bond.

Baguma’s bail application was heard by the High Court yesterday Wednesday, more about only a day after he was committed to the same court.

His Sureties include the Head of the Uganda Police’s Traffic Directorate AIGP Stephen Kasiima and his two uncles Robert Kato and Emmanuel Muhanguzi.

Yesterday during the hearing, sick Baguma through his lawyers submitted that he is entitled to bail , that he is a serving police officer who has served in the force for five years and has assumed the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and took an oath of elegancy, which shows that he will obey any bail terms set by the High court.

Baguma also stressed that he is a married man with family of which he is the sole bread winner; he is a citizen of Uganda with a national I.D with a fixed place of abode in Naalya, Kira Municipality Wakiso district.

In grating him Bail today, Justice Musene ordered Baguma to report once every month until hearing of the case starts on 7th October.

Baguma is charged together with 8 other people in the murder of city business woman Donah Katushabe, who was battered to death at car bond which she owed 9 million Shillings.
