Police, Bobi Wine Speak Out on Kirumira

MP Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine termed the murder of Kirumira as "very painful"


Uganda Police have confirmed the death of one of their own, ASP Muhamad Kirumira who was gunned down Saturday evening on his way home.

Kirumira was shot along with an unidentified lady as they retired home from a party.

Police in a statement said, they were “greatly concerned with the assassination of ASP Muhammad Kirumira at Bulenga near his home at around 9:00pm.”

“He was with a lady resident confirmed to be his wife. She too succumbed to bullet wounds and was pronounced dead on arrival at Rubaga Hospital.”

It was later established that Kirumira’s wife was not in the ill-fated car.

The Police added in the statement, “He was driving his personal vehicle which is still at the scene of crime at Bulenga. We condemn these heinous criminal acts and promise to hunt down these merciless criminals and bring them to book. May they Rest In Peace.”

Kirumira resigned from the Police Force in January, before he was arrested and charged with criminal misconduct and demoted.

Meanwhile, hundreds of commiseration messages have been pouring in over social media, following the shocking news.

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) who is the United States termed the murder of the maverick police officer as “very painful.”

“I just got the terrible news of the shooting of my good friend, and outspoken police officer, Muhammad Kirumira and his dear wife,” Bobi Wine posted on Facebook.

“Very sadly, that is the country we are living in. NO ONE IS SAFE. Our country is bleeding. This is very painful.”
