Buganda Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga is at the Kampala Capital City Authority Headquarters where he will among others be collecting the Authority’s contributions to the Kasubi tombs reconstruction fundraising drive known commonly as ettoffali.
Mayiga was this morning welcomed by KCCA Executive Director Mrs Jenifer Musisi along with dozens of the Authority workers.
The visit comes only a day after government trumpeted plans to have the Ettofaali among other fundraising drives banned as the country closes in to the 2016 general elections.
The Electoral Commission said yesterday that such platforms were being misused by politicians to illegally drum support from citizens.
KCCA says they will at the function be sharing with the team from Mengo, their strategic engagements toward improving service delivery in Kampala.
Meanwhile the Kampala Lord Mayor elect Salongo Erias Lukwago, smartly dressed for the grand occasion was stopped by police right at the gate.
Lukwago’s pleas to be allowed in just for the function fell on Police’s deaf ear. The Mayor was thrown out of the City Hall in 2013 by his council over abuse of officer.
His protracted efforts to wade his way back though courts of law have since stalled.
