Police on Friday engaged in a running battle with supporters of political pressure group known as People Power who had staged a procession from Makindye towards Kampala city.
Police said that they intercepted the group because it was engaged in unlawful acts which involved inciting violence.
During the procession, some individuals were using potable loud speakers to call others to join them.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigire said that they had paralyzed traffic in the area as well as destabilizing businesses along the way.
He identified the arrested as David Musili and Muhammad Kyazze who are currently held at Katwe Police division pending interrogations.
“We would like to caution people intending to stage public gatherings to always seek Police clearance to avoid inconveniences,” he said.
Relatedly, on Thursday Police fired teargas at People Power activists who had staged a procession from Buganda Road Court to Kamwokya where they had planned a meeting with their leaders.
Several people were temporarily detained at Wandegeya Police Station before releasing them on bond.
However, the group spokesperson Joel Senyonyi maintains that they will continue organizing meetings with their supporters across the country.
