Police in Ntinda is holding three crime preventers for kidnapping a South Sudanese national.
Kampala metropolitan Police in a statement said in a statement the three arrested are crime preventers based in Kikoni Parish in Makerere.
They are identified as David Niwamanya, Ashiraf Sebuffu, Godwin Muhoozi and James Mubiru.
According to police, the trio had kidnapped a Sudanese identified as James Apal aged 17 years.
Police said that the arrest of the suspects followed a report of a missing person at Ntinda police post on Thursday night.
“Our team at Ntinda Police Station sent out communication while monitoring the calls of the victim who was with the kidnappers calling the family members negotiating a ransom” reads part of the statement
It is said that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of four million Ugandan shillings from the relatives of the victim.
Police added that on ascertaining the point of the ransom delivery, police surrounded Cynibel Supermarket Naalya and arrested the kidnappers.
In the operation, the kidnapped victim was also saved also saving and reunited with his family.
At the scene, Police also impounded a vehicle registration number UAH 031E that was used by the kidnappers.
The trio are currently held at Ntinda Police station case vide SD13/26/04/2018.
Cases of kidnap and ransoming continue to raise in the country and many victims have lost their lives while a few have been saved.
