Police, Army Seal Off Muntu’s Rally Venue in Hoima

Police have blocked Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Gen Mugisha Muntu from accessing his planned rally venue in Hoima City.

Gen Muntu had on Sunday planned to hold his rally at Hoima Booma grounds that is near Hoima Central Police station. However, police and the army sealed off the venue and blocked ANT campaign team led by Kasese Woman MP Winnie Kiiza.

Albertine regional police spokesperson Julius Hakiza said police and the army had already booked the venue for their activities.

But Mr Jackson Wabyoona, the ATN western regional coordinator, said Hoima City Town Clerk had cleared Gen Muntu to hold a rally at the venue

He added that even police blocked Gen Muntu from holding his other rally at Kigorobya Muslim Primary School grounds in Kigorobya County on grounds that it was too close to Kigorobya Police

Wabyoona lashed at police for sabotaging opposition activities with lame excuses.

Gen Muntu later campaigned in Kyangwali Sub-county in Kikuube District.
