Police Announce Crackdown on Unruly City Motorists

The Kampala Metropolitan Police commander in charge of traffic Norman Musinga has announced a crackdown on boda boda riders for exhibiting what he termed as indiscipline.

“Several accidents have on many occasions happened because of their indiscipline. There is a public outcry by especially drivers and pedestrians over the riders who don’t follow and respect traffic lights, cialis 40mg ” Musinga explained while addressing journalists on Thursday in Kampala.

“Many patients in Mulago and other hospitals in the country are as a result of the reckless and indiscipline riding by boda bodas.”

According to the KMPA police boss, mind many riders operate without safety helmets, page reflector jackets adding that a large number of them don’t have permits for their motorcycles.

“They always ride on pavements whereas others conceal their registration number plates and later commit crimes. As police we are concerned with the indiscipline of these riders and we have therefore launched a crackdown on them.”

Musinga further explained that starting tomorrow, Friday, January, 9, the operations will kick off and these among others will target all riders without permits, reflector jackets, safety helmets as well as those loaded with more than one passenger.

“I am now going to meet all the commanders and brief them on the new regulations but this is just a signal that we are committed to seeing sanity in the city as we continue to enforce the law and instil discipline within the boda boda riders. All those found guilty will be prosecuted according to the law  but fining them will be one of the punishments, ”Musinga added.

The traffic police boss however urged all boda boda  leaders to sensitize the riders on how to behave well and follow traffic regulations.
