PLE 2019: Boys Perform Better Than Girls

The Minister of Education and Sports and First Lady Janet Museveni has released Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) done on 4th and 5th November 2019.

The results which were released at Kampala Parents School showed that males performed better than their female counterparts.

A total number of 695,804 candidates from 13,475 centers registered for PLE in 2019.

Of these, 473,893 (68.2%) were universal primary education beneficiaries (UPE) while 211,912 (31.8%) were private school pupils.

Division 1 registered 69,243 pupils, 318,155 were in Division 2, 140,420 were in Division 3, 89, 332 in division 4 while 66,152 failed.

For Boys, 39,182 (11.9%) were in Division 1 against 30,061 (8.5) females.

In division 2, 159,923 (48.4) were boys while 158,232 (44.6%) werr girls.

In division 3, 60244 (18.2%) were boys against 80,176 (22.6) who were girls.

In division 4, 43,868 (13.3%) are boys against 45,464 (12.3%) girls.

Those who failed it’s 26,976 (8.2%) boys and 39,176 (11.0%) girls.
