Vipers SC striker Fahad Bayo and Maroons FC head coach Douglas Bamweyana have been named as Uganda Premier League’s best player and coach for the month of September respectively during the press conference held at Kati-Kati restaurant on Monday morning.
To win the accolade that came with a cash prize of one million shillings, Bayo beat competition from SC Villa’s David Owori and Maroons’ Steven Mukwala.
“I thank Allah for the award and I think the performance I have had has been a result of collective effort from my coaches and my teammates,” Bayo said upon receiving his accolade.
“I’m happy for the start I have had but I want to remain consistent and help my team achieve its targets,” he added.
Bayo scored three goals and made two assists in September to help his side collect seven points in the first three league games.
On the other hand, Bamweyana beat SC Villa head coach Edward Kaziba to the September best coach gong.
Bamweyana led his side to three league wins in the month of September; they overcame Kyetume FC with a 1-0 win before beating Tooro United 2-0 away from home. They also won 3-2 against Bright Stars.
This left them sixth on the Uganda Premier League log which is a sign that Bamweyana has changed a lot on the team which fought for relegation survival last season.
