Government aided Katoke Senior Secondary School in Katoke sub county Kyenjojo district has been closed after a destructive strike.

The students went on rampage on Friday morning protesting the school administration’s policy that required them to tuck in their school uniforms and trim their hair.

It is alleged that the demonstration was instigated by the Senior 2 students who moved in all the classes asking their colleagues to reject the administrators’ policies.

They later turned violent throwing stones onto the classroom glass windows and doors and smashing other school property.

The school head teacher quickly informed police which rushed to the scene to calm the situation.

Kyenjojo District Police Commander Mr.Mbabazi Martin confirmed the incident and said the strike would have been more disastrous if not quelled in time.

DPC strongly condemned the students’ indiscipline and blamed it on their parents’ upbringing.

Mr.Mbabazi said that the school had been closed till Monday 2nd March 2015 when the students will report with their children.

When contacted on phone on Saturday afternoon, Ayena confirmed the development but first asked how we got the information.
