Thousands of revelers comprising of mainly Bakiga and other tribes thronged UMA Show grounds on December 9 for the sixth Edition of Bakiga Nation’s Rukundo Egumeho.
Bakiga Nation is a cultural organization geared at celebrating the Kiga culture in a holistic- all-inclusive approach to showcase, appreciate and celebrate the Kiga culture in all its glory.
With gates open at 12 Noon, both kids, adults, Girls and boys were seen in fairly reasonable numbers which doubled at around 3Pm the numbers kept growing.
By the Time it clocked 5 Pm in the evening, one could hardly find free space to step his or her Foot to.
The festival has over the years continued to attract people from all regions and ages that has made it the biggest cultural festival as it can now clearly be regarded as the biggest social gathering in Uganda that has taken over Kampala by storm as the most attended cultural social event.
Bakiga Nation prides in Culture, Togetherness and Solidarity among others by not only the Bakiga but other people from different tribes through Music, drama, food, culture, music, arts and fun
There were performances from Shain Omukiga, Amani Amani, Qwela band among others.
‘Rukundo Egumeho’ is an event that aims at bringing together all the Bakiga on a one day Networking Event, Picnic among other amazing activities.
There were lots of Drinks being served in plenty including Entulire, Omulamba, Beer among others.
Revelers enjoyed a lot of activities that included local traditional dance (Ekikiga) which was the key feature of the event, suck race, tug challenge, different dress codes such as Ekizino Style and many more.
Rukundo Egumeho is a clear manifestation of Love, Unity and equality among the Bakiga as many were seen being ferried all the way from Kabale and other districts away from Kampala just to come celebrate together and embrace their culture.
