Slain Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga is being laid to rest today Sunday.
The deceased’s body today laid in State at Parliament where MPs eulogized their departed colleague.
Many speakers described Abiriga as humble, harmless and amiable.
Speaker Rebecca Kadaga urged security to investigate the MP’s assassination and also address insecurity in the country.
Following the plenary session, Abiriga’s body was transported in a Mercedes Benz to Kololo ceremonial grounds.
A UPDF chopper was already waiting for the body before taking off to Arua.
Some of the high profile officials who were at the airstrip included Deputy Prime Minister Moses Ali.
Unknown gunmen used assault AK 47 rifles to take the precious lives of Abiriga and his brother as they drove to the lawmaker’s residence in Kawanda, Wakiso District.
The killers sped off on a motorcycle which President Museveni said had no number plates.
As of Sunday police were yet to hold suspects in the killing that has shaken the country.
State Minister Internal Affairs Obiga Kania told Parliament today that everything was being done by security services to hunt down Abiriga’s killers.
