The second edition of the Uganda International Cultural Tourism Fair started today, July 28,2017 at the Uganda museum.
Meant to celebrate Ugandan culture, food and fashion, the event’s opening ceremony was graced by Minister of State for culture Peace Mutuzo, State minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda and Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi wine.
Speaking at the ceremony, Godfrey Kiwanda said that “Culture is an identity, we can’t be separated from it,” also adding that “Let’s use our culture to unite ourselves.”
Bobi Wine, who was part of the panel of discussants, noted that tourism is key in marketing the country to the outside world
Bobi also urged the government to renovate the Uganda museum.
“The museum has a lot about our culture and it’s my humble request minster that you put its renovations into consideration,” He said.
Guests, after their speeches and intriguing discussion gathered for a simple dance that saw Bobi Wine try out the famous Bakiga traditional “Ekitaguriro” dance.
The event will go to July 30,2017.
The fair will also feature activities like music, dance & drama Fashion, food, entrepreneurial projects, Wildlife exhibition among others.
Worthy to note, there will also be thematic Side conferences on culture and family, culture and peace, culture and conservation of natural resources (water, climate, and wildlife) , as well as culture and money.
