Police are interrogating a man who on Wednesday morning checked into a Kampala-based clinic with wounds on his neck and back as detectives hunt down a ruthless panga-wielding gang that killed businessman Arch Rwego.
Rwego was in the wee hours of Wednesday attacked by assailants at his residence in Kira Town Council, Wakiso District.
The invaders stabbed Rwego in the chest, head and neck. He bled to death.
During the raid, Rwego’s dog injured one of the thugs.
This website understands following the murder, police combed all clinics in Kiira, Kiwatule, Najjera, Buwaate, Kasangati, Namugongo, Kireka and Bweyogerere for anyone who could have been admitted with wounds sustained from a fight with a dog.
Detectives landed on a suspect who is now in detention.
Police want the man, whose identity is still protected, to explain where he sustained the wounds from.
Rwego was married to Dora, a sister of CID Director Grace Akullo.
Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima was not readily available for comment.
Kampala Metropolitan Police publicist Luke Owoyesigire said “we will soon confirm if he is a suspect in that murder case.”
The killing of Rwego has left many in shock with police moving fast to conduct operations and mount checkpoints in Kiira Division.
