The fallen acting district Kadhi of Mbarara district, Sheik Ahamed Siraj Kwikiriza who passed on Friday was laid to rest on Saturday at his home in Nyamitanga, Mbarara.
The District Kadhi perished in a motor accident Friday morning at 7:30am.
At the burial, Hon. Bright Rwamirama, the veterans’ minister represented President Yoweri Museveni.
The Minister delivered Shs10m to the grieved family from the President.
He also contributed Shs300,000.
Mbarara district officials eulogized the deceased Muslim cleric in quite emotional speeches.
Mbarara Chairman LCV, Capt. JB Bamuturaki hailed Ahamed for being “a good teacher and a rich man in spirit.”
Bamuturaki also asked Muslims to desist from fights, saying that when people are fighting they cannot unite at all.
Ahamed died at the age of 50 and was a great teacher of Arabic at Shuadae Secondary School in Nyamitanga, Mbarara.
Muslims applauded Siraj as an educationist cadre who also loved uniting people from all religions during his Islamic ministries.
The Mbarara Municipality Mayor, Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi also lauded Muslims in Mbarara for not joining the Islamic terror groups heard in other districts.
One of the relatives who spoke at the burial dismissed rumors alleging the Kadhi’s son also died.
He, however, noted that both children are still alive though in critical condition at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
Sheikh Ahamed left 7 children and two wives.
Muslims at the burial collected Shs5.5m to support them.
Two of the children were also promised to be educated by some good Samaritans who attended the burial.
Other notable figures who attended the burial were the staunch DP man, Imam Makumbi, RDC Capt. Martha Asiimwe, and different religious leaders including the Ankole diocese Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa.
