Boda boda riders in Kampala have set ablaze several offices belonging to the Boda Boda 2010 militia after the outfit’s commander Abdallah Kitatta and 29 others were arrested by the military this past weekend.
The attacks on Boda Boda 2010 premises were on Monday more pronounced in Rubaga, Makindye and Bukesa.
Furniture, office equipment and other items found in the offices were set on fire in what appears as revenge attacks against the dreaded group.
The military police, supported by Joint Anti Terrorism Track Units have been combing the city to subdue elements of Boda Boda 2010.
According to Deputy Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Deo Akiiki more detailed investigations are being conducted with a view of “arresting all those still at large and prosecuting them.”
Boda Boda 2010 is accused of extortion and perpetrating a reign of terror in Kampala.
Rival boda boda rival associations say Kitatta’s men robbed their motorcycles and extorted money from them.
Security forces have been deployed in different parts of Kampala to contain the situation which could get out of hand.
The military has since warned Boda Boda 2010 members of “serious consequences” should they try any violence anywhere in Kampala city.
