A fire on Tuesday ripped through one of the buildings on Oboja Road in Jinja Municipality town, burning properties worth millions of money to ashes.
The cause of this fire is not yet known but an eyewitness says that it started as an electrical short circuit which later circulated to different parts.
This building contained a store for refrigerators and a motor vehicle workshop, but by the time the owners arrived to save their properties, almost everything was burnt.
Residents of this area have blamed fire brigade for not having water in their vehicles, saying it was why they couldn’t easily put off the fire.
One resident told this reporter that when the fire brigade agents arrived at the scene, their vehicle did not have enough water in the tank to extinguish the fire.
It was through the help of private fire brigade teams that the fire was finally put off.
According to residents, many investors have started setting up buildings in spaces that were originally left for corridors, hence making it difficult to access buildings when such disasters occur.
ASP Collins Agaba, who is the officer in charge of Fire Brigade — said that they were doing the investigation on what caused this fire.
