The mood ahead of the Uganda Premier League match between Onduparaka and reigning champions KCCA FC is terrific. The caterpillar fans woke up early by 7:30 AM blowing their whistles and vuvuzelas forcing the handful of KCCA supporters who had arrived with the morning buses to go into hiding.
The match only kicks off at 4pm but one hour before midday the atmosphere is like that of kickoff with the town flooded with the famous white and green jerseys.
“Here, cost http://cognac-ambassador.com/wp-includes/class-wp-customize-section.php we breathe, eat and live football. This is just a normal scene during match days especially if it’s Onduparaka playing. We have missed Premier League football for a long time with our players all travelling to Kampala and central to play football. We don’t even see them on TV during Cranes games. Now this is ‘our Cranes,” Muzamir Tabu a boda boda cyclist who transported me to the green light stadium from my hotel narrated.
Today’s match venue, the green light stadium will be launched officially and rebranded the ‘Betway Greenlight stadium’ as part of the agreement signed between Onduparaka FC and shirt sponsor Betway- a UK betting firm.
This will be the first time Onduparaka head coach Leo Adraa his assistants Livingstone Mbabazi and Moses Oloya will be in the touchlines in front of the massive home crowd since their appointment.
The match kicks off at exactly 4pm but will not be aired live on Azam TV as earlier communicated by the broadcaster and league Secretariat.
