FDC honcho Kizza Besigye has appealed to the children of jailed activist Stella Nyanzi to remain strong and resilient, Chimp Corps report.
Besigye spoke today Tuesday during a surprise visit to jailed activist Stella Nyanzi’s children at their aunt’s residence in Kungu, near Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.
“We came to visit the children of Stella Nyanzi; to check on them; to pray with them; to support them morally and to encourage them to continue with their normal lives in the absence of their mother,” said Besigye.
“We also wanted to them to send a message of encouragement to their mum, whom they are going to visit to in Luzira, that the struggle she left behind is still on; and that she should remain firm as we are fully in support of her,” he added.
Kato Bah, Wasswa Bah and their sister Baraka Bah stay with their mother’s sister Sheila Nyanzi. They are under Sheila’s care.
Stella Nyanzi, a former Makerere researcher,
is serving an 18-month jail sentence at Luzira Prison after she was found guilty of cyber harassment against President Museveni.
Besigye shared with the children some Christmas gifts and counseled them on how to cope without their mother, who is in prison.
ChimpReports understands Nyanzi is so close to Besigye.
Even when he has gone to visit her in Luzira twice now, she keeps telling him he is the only one whom she has who can stand with her in all situations.
She says Besigye is like her father.
Speaking at Sheilah’s home, Besigye observed: “We wanted the kids to deliver a message to their mother that we pray for her and look forward to when she returns to carry on the struggle with us.”
The kids prayed with Besigye, wishing him success in his political battles seeking change of the statusquo.
