Gulu grade one Magistrate, Vian Kwizera on Thursday released the People Power Acholi sub-region coordinator, Tony Olanya Olenge on a non-cash bail of 800,000
Olenge, a student at Gulu University was arrested on Tuesday and charged with threatening violence.
He was reportedly arrested on the orders of the Gulu University Dean of Students.
Prosecution alleges that on the 19th of February from Gulu University, the accused held an unlawful assembly and later threatened fellow students and the university community during the rally.
The accused was brought before the Court on Thursday afternoon and he produced three sureties which court found sufficient.
Speaking to ChimpReports after his release, Olenge revealed that he had to quickly flee the court premises after he heard word that that he was to be rearrested.
In other news, Court employees at Gulu Court on Thursday were shocked when they discovered strange objects including animal horns wrapped in a polythene bag, carefully placed under the magistrate’s seat.
A court employee who spoke to us anonymously said colleagues removed the materials and prayed for them before setting them on fire.
