PayWay Uganda has rolled out its next generation point of sale (POS) agent terminals into the Uganda market.
Key features from the new terminals include 2 GSM 4G enabled sim cards which support reliability in connectivity in case one network is down, Contactless (NFC) enabled, swipe, Chip EMV level I, II certified card readers, Thermal Printer and Capacitive touch screen with a high resolution.
The machines also come with a High battery capacity of up to 72 Hours in normal mode as well as a front and back camera with capability to scan QR codes.
While announcing the roll out, Lonah Kamugisha, PayWay’s Head of Marketing and Commercial, observed: “As a market leader, it is important that we keep innovating and making use of the latest technologies to deliver a seamless, secure, reliable and convenient service to the several thousand PayWay agents spread across Uganda.”
“This in turn provides real value to the partners on the platform. We are also on a countrywide campaign to recruit new agents that will bring the PayWay convenience to end users. We target to have 15,000 agents by end of Q2 2020.”
The A90 POS terminal provides secure, reliable and convenient transactions with a high performance CPU and 4 core processors. All transactions are instant thereby saving the agent and customer time.
PayWay has been a key player in Uganda’s digital payments Eco system since 2009 and has contributed immensely to the country’s digitization efforts.
